RS Contract, Sustainability
A craft that treasures people and the planet.
Every thread we source, every loom we support, and every dye we use is a choice. We make those choices with care, for the planet, for the people, and for the craft.
Our Approach
Reaching rural India so artisans weave not only rugs but better lives.
RS Contract's supply chain reaches back almost a century, directly into the weaving communities of Bhadohi and Kashmir rather than through layers of agents. That proximity gives us accountability over every stage: raw fibre sourcing, artisan welfare, dye processes, and final quality.

The Foundation
Empowering Rural India
Our welfare commitments are not peripheral to the business, they are why the business exists. Every contract fulfilled funds the communities that made it possible.
Healthcare
Accessible Care in Rural Communities
We provide reliable and affordable healthcare services to weaving communities that have historically had little access to medical support, bringing clinics and awareness to the village, not the other way around.
Education
Holistic Learning for Artisan Families
We support holistic development programmes for children and youth in rural India, with alternative education initiatives for adult artisans, and a particular focus on closing the gender gap in literacy and skill.
Financial Inclusion
Banking Access and Welfare Reach
We help artisan households understand and access formal banking services, government welfare schemes, and micro-finance tools, turning a wage into a foundation for the future.
Skill Development
Craft as a Path to Livelihood
We run skill development programmes for rural and differently-abled communities, enabling individuals to earn through carpet weaving, preserving a centuries-old craft while raising living standards.
Traceability
From Loom to Home
Because we work directly in the field, in close contact with the artisan communities, every rug we make can be traced all the way back to the person who wove it. That connection comes to life in our Postcard Project, an initiative that lets our clients exchange thoughts and words with the artisan whose hands made their rug.
Our Footprint
Reducing our Impact on the Planet

Recycled Yarn
Select specification ranges utilise hand-spun leftover yarn batches, reducing waste while producing colour palettes as singular as the project they serve. Sustainable specification without aesthetic compromise.

Low-Impact Dyes
Obtained from GOTS-certified and eco-friendly raw colours, the dyes used across our contract ranges are long-lasting, backed by a state-of-the-art fixation process. Colour performance to specification, without compromising the planet.
