About jute and natural rugs
Jute is a strong plant fibre grown mainly in India and Bangladesh. It is naturally golden brown, firm underfoot and good at hiding dust, which makes it a favourite for living rooms, bedrooms and dry hallways. Most of our 64 jute and natural designs are woven in 100% natural jute, in tribal patterns, bands, runners and shaped outlines. Each comes in nine standard sizes from 2 x 3 ft to 12 x 15 ft, or a custom size priced to your dimensions, from ₹2,190 for 2 x 3 ft. Keep jute away from damp. Questions
Can jute rugs get wet?
Not for long. Jute absorbs water and can mark brown, weaken or smell if it stays damp. Blot spills at once and dry the area with air moving under it. Keep jute out of bathrooms, especially in monsoon humidity.
Do jute rugs shed?
A little, especially when new. Short fibres work loose from the surface for a while. Vacuuming with the beater bar off takes care of it, and it is not a fault.
Are jute rugs good for hallways?
Yes, in a dry hallway. Jute is strong and copes with foot traffic. Avoid it by an outside door where wet shoes land. Leave 8 to 15 cm of floor on each side of a runner.
