Handmade Pouf Manufacturers & Exporters in India (Listed by Year Established)

Four Indian companies whose own websites show handmade poufs, listed by the year each says it was established, with the page we relied on for each. An ordering, not a ranking, published by Raheem & Son, which is included.

How this list is ordered, and who published it

Published by Raheem & Son, which is included. We say so up front because it matters: you should weigh what follows knowing the author is one of the companies named.

The one ordering criterion used here is the year established, as each company states it on its own website, oldest first. Nothing else affects position.

This is an ordering, not a ranking, and it is not an endorsement of quality, price or service. Position in the list tells you nothing about which supplier is better for your order. We chose the criterion before building the list and we did not change it afterwards: if it had placed Raheem & Son last, we would be last. We do not use scores, stars, "best" or "top" labels anywhere in this series.

A company is included only if its own public website shows that it makes or sells handmade poufs. Each entry cites the page we relied on, and anything a company does not state is shown as "not publicly stated" rather than guessed. Last verified: 18 October 2026. Pages change, so if you spot a fact that is out of date, tell us and we will correct it.

What buyers actually specify when they order poufs

A pouf looks simple and is anything but. Four decisions decide how it behaves in a customer's home or a hotel lounge: the cover material, the way the cover is made, the filling, and the construction of the seams and base. A hand-woven wool cover, a braided jute cover and a leather cover wear differently, clean differently and ship differently, so the first question to put to any supplier is which of those it makes itself.

Filling is the decision most often left vague on a quotation. Firm fills hold a seat shape and suit footrest use. Softer fills slump and suit decorative use. Some buyers ask for unfilled covers so that filling can be sourced near the destination, which reduces freight volume because a flat cover packs far smaller than a stuffed pouf. If volume matters to your landed cost, ask every supplier whether it will supply covers only, and what it fills them with when it does fill.

Poufs are also a category where private label is common. Retailers rarely want to sell a maker's own range name, so look for suppliers that accept your design brief, a reference sample or a mood board, and ask early whether sampling charges are credited against a first production order.

Four companies, listed by year established

These are the companies whose own pages show handmade poufs. Several well-known Indian rug houses do not appear because their own sites do not show poufs, and we do not infer a category from a directory listing. If you represent a company that makes poufs and is missing, send us the page and we will add it.

Where Raheem & Son appears, and what we state about our poufs

Under this criterion Raheem & Son falls first of 4, because 1927 is where the sequence of stated founding years puts it. That is a consequence of the ordering rule, not a claim about quality.

Our poufs are handcrafted in hand-spun wool, cotton, jute and leather, filled firmly, and every piece is produced to order in any size or specification. We work with wholesale buyers, importers, interior designers, hospitality specifiers and retailers; bulk orders go through an enquiry, not a checkout. Custom design, private label and white label are available for qualifying orders. Browse the pouf range or the pouf collection.

Raheem & Son has no fixed minimum order, quotes a sample or strike-off in 25 to 35 days, and starts bulk production from about 60 days depending on order size, construction and production load (see how to order).

On certification, CEPC registration is the only credential we currently hold. A Four-Star Category Certificate from the Directorate of Industries, Government of Uttar Pradesh was awarded in 2009; it is a historic award that lapsed in 2011, not a current certificate. We do not hold other standing third-party certificates; others are arranged against qualifying orders and we say so in writing first. See our standards.

How to compare any pouf supplier, including us

Ask for a physical sample of the exact cover and filling you intend to buy, not a similar piece. Ask which construction method makes the cover and who weaves it. Ask whether the price you are quoted includes filling, inserts and export packing, and ask for the minimum per design and per colourway rather than per order. Check the Import Export Code on the invoice matches the company you contracted with.

Our guide to comparing rug exporters sets out a checklist you can use on any supplier, and our comparison of Indian rug manufacturers shows the same companies across more fields. For the rug side of an order, see the other guides in this series, starting with hand-knotted rug manufacturers and the overview of the whole series.

Frequently asked

Who makes handmade poufs in India?

Many workshops do. This guide lists four companies whose own websites show handmade poufs: Raheem & Son, Jaipur Rugs, Sharda Exports and PiHue Creations, ordered by the year each states it was established. It is an ordering, not a ranking, and the list is limited to what each company's own pages show.

Can I order poufs in bulk or under my own label?

Raheem & Son accepts bulk and made-to-order pouf programmes by enquiry, with custom design, private label and white label for qualifying orders and no fixed minimum order. Terms at other companies are not covered here; ask each supplier for its minimum per design and per colourway.

What are poufs usually made from?

Covers are commonly wool, cotton, jute or leather. Raheem & Son states hand-spun wool, cotton, jute and leather for its poufs. Filling is a separate choice, and some buyers order unfilled covers to reduce freight volume.

Is the order of this list a ranking?

No. It is ordered only by the year each company states it was established. Raheem & Son published the list and is included in it; position reflects the criterion and says nothing about quality.
