Ports and Gateways

The right gateway for your market.

We route shipments through the port that gives your order the best balance of transit time, frequency and cost to your destination. All port logistics are coordinated in line with the agreed Incoterm.

Nhava Sheva Sea Port (JNPT), Mumbai

Best for USA and Europe

India's premier container hub, handling the highest volume of Indian handmade carpet exports. Most frequent direct services to the USA, which absorbs approximately 70% of India's carpet exports, and to Western Europe. Containers are sealed locally and move to JNPT via Western Dedicated Freight Corridor rail links for efficient, predictable transit.

Mundra Port, Gujarat

Best for speed, efficiency and the Middle East

Privately operated with advanced infrastructure, lower handling costs and rapid customs turnaround. Strong connectivity to the Gulf, Africa and the Mediterranean, making it the preferred choice for time-sensitive or cost-conscious shipments to those regions.

Kolkata Sea Port

Best for Australia and Southeast Asia

The closest oceanic gateway to eastern India, well positioned for Australia, Singapore and East Asia. We can leverage the Varanasi Multi-Modal Terminal, located close to Bhadohi, to move cargo cost effectively along National Waterway 1 (the Ganga) to Kolkata, reducing inland transit time and cost.

Delhi Air Cargo

Best for high-value and express orders

For high-end custom silk rugs and time-sensitive boutique orders, air freight via Delhi Air Cargo provides fast, secure delivery. Delhi handles the second highest volume of rug export shipments from Northern India, with strong frequency to all major markets.

Export questions

Logistics, Incoterms and documentation

Which Incoterms do you offer?

We work to all major Incoterms 2020 terms, arranged as per buyer requirement. These include EXW, FOB, CFR, CIF, CPT, CIP, DAP and DDP. The preferred term is confirmed during order discussion before production begins.

Which port is best for my country?

For the USA and Western Europe, we recommend Nhava Sheva (JNPT) in Mumbai, which carries the highest frequency of direct container services on those routes. For the Middle East and Gulf, Mundra Port offers better connectivity and faster turnaround. For Australia and Southeast Asia, Kolkata Sea Port via the Varanasi Multi-Modal Terminal is the most cost-effective option. For express or high-value silk rug shipments, Delhi Air Cargo is available.

How are the rugs packed for export?

Rugs are rolled, poly-wrapped and palletised as standard. Eco-friendly or custom packing options are available as per buyer requirement. Packing specifications are confirmed before production to ensure they match your receiving and retail standards.

What export documentation do you provide?

Standard documentation includes commercial invoice, packing list, Certificate of Origin and phytosanitary documentation where required by the destination market. Additional compliance declarations, material-composition documents and substance-safety paperwork are prepared based on your market and buyer requirements. We confirm the full document set before production begins.

Do you handle customs and freight forwarding?

We coordinate with freight forwarders and customs agents for Indian export clearance and can advise on logistics partners for your destination. The extent of our involvement depends on the agreed Incoterm. Under DDP we manage the full chain. Under EXW or FOB the buyer arranges onward logistics from the named point.
