How to Verify a Rug Supplier's Certificates Before You Order

Five checks that take under an hour and tell you whether a supplier's certificate actually covers your order.

The five checks

1. Legal entity: the name on the certificate must match the entity on your invoice. 2. Scope: the certificate must name the product or site that makes your rug. 3. Number: request the certificate number in writing. 4. Expiry: an expired certificate covers nothing. 5. Issuer: confirm with the issuing body directly, using contact details you found yourself.

If a supplier cannot give you all five, treat the certification claim as unproven and decide whether the order proceeds on sample inspection and third-party testing instead.

Our position, so you know what to ask us

Raheem and Son is a CEPC-registered export house, and CEPC registration is the only credential it currently holds. A Four-Star Category Certificate was awarded in 2009 by the Directorate of Industries, Government of Uttar Pradesh; it is a historic award that lapsed in 2011, not a current certificate. No in-date third-party product certificate is held as a standing document. Other certifications and audits are arranged on request for qualifying programmes, and we say so in writing before an order, not after.

Ask us for the document set for your order and we will state what exists and what would be arranged. See our standards.

Frequently asked

Can you arrange third-party testing for my order?

Certifications, audits and documentation can be arranged or supported for qualifying orders and programmes. We confirm what is achievable for your order and market on request.
